MAJOR EXPANSION FOR SLIGRO'S NETWORK OF FOOD SERVICE OUTLETS

Major Expansion for Sligro's Network of Food Service Outlets

Sligro Food Group N.V. and V.O.F. Hordifood announce that agreement is expected on Sligro B.V.'s acquisition of V.O.F. Hordifood's activities.

Hordifood is a wholesaler, delivering to the hotel and catering industry in the Texel and North Holland region of the Netherlands, with sales in 2003 of approximately €4 million and 13 staff. Its customers are chiefly general and recreational restaurants and bars on the island of Texel and on the mainland of North Holland. Sligro will open a self-service and delivery wholesaler at Hordifood's current location in Den Burg. It will be the 36th Sligro outlet in the Netherlands. The new location in Den Burg is an excellent fit with the intensive expansion programme that Sligro (food service) is implementing in 2004.

In accordance with the Socio-Economic Council's merger code, the employee organisations and other bodies have been informed of Sligro B.V.'s acquisition of V.O.F. Hordifood's activities. The transaction will have no adverse consequences for jobs.

In addition to the new location in Den Burg, Sligro opened a 9,500 m2 outlet in The Hague in February 2004 and is moving the Nieuwegein outlet to a 9,000 m2 location in March. In Gouda it has started to expand the existing location, completion being planned for mid-2004. The programme for 2004 also includes a new outlet in Deventer, relocation and expansion in Emmen and the opening in April of a regional fresh produce centre in Amsterdam, where a 13,000 m2 self-service and delivery outlet will be opened in early 2005.

Sligro Food Group N.V. encompasses food service and food retail companies selling directly and indirectly to the entire Dutch market for food and beverages. The group adopts a multichannel strategy covering various forms of sales and distribution (self-service and delivery) using several different distribution channels. Sligro Food Group aims to be a consistent, quality company achieving controlled growth in all its activities and for all its stakeholders. Its turnover in 2003 was €1,356 million and its net profit nearly €45 million. The average number of employees on a full-time-equivalent basis was 2,746.
